Woman's Emblem

A woman who has great courage and has fought for her rights and never has been coward. Do you know a woman like this? For me, you should admire a woman with these aspects. And I will let you know a woman whom I really admire. You’ll know it when you read further.

A woman named Gabriela Silang was born on March 19, 1781 at Caniogan, Ilocos Sur. In 1757, she met a man named Diego Silang. Gabriela marries him. Diego was a revolutionary. And during those times, Gabriella was his assistant. Unfortunately, Diego was betrayed by one of his friends. Because of this, Gabriela continues his husband’s legacy. She fought for justice and freedom. She continued what his husband did not finish, continued the revolt in Ilocos to earn some weapons. On September 1763, Gabriela’s troop attacked Vigan. But the Spaniards were prepared for their arrival. Thus, leading into a defeat. Together with her uncle and seven companions, they were the survivors and they fled. In September 1763, Gabriela was arrested as his co-rebels and beheaded in thePlaza of Vigan, Ilocos Sur.

You see, this is what I call a real woman. She fought for her rights and never been afraid. For me, this is a real hero. Despite of being a woman, she continued to do what is right. She should be called the “women’s emblem” because of the things that she has done. How about you? Do you know a woman of this kind?
